Faculty Are you a passionate and innovative researcher with a deep understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science? South Carolina State University is seeking a talented Assistant Professor/Research Scientist in Computer Science/Cybersecurity ( with AI/ML/Data Science Focus) to join our prestigious College of Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technology team. In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, and scientists to drive cutting-edge research projects. You will be responsible for developing and implementing advanced algorithms, models, and techniques to analyze complex data sets and uncover valuable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and develop state-of-the-art AI/ML models and algorithms to tackle challenging research problems across various domains, including but not limited to computer vision, natural language processing, and predictive analytics. 2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify research opportunities, define project goals, and implement innovative solutions. 3. Conduct in-depth data analysis, feature engineering, and model optimization to ensure accurate and reliable results. 4. Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML and data science and actively contribute to the field through research publications and conference presentations. 5. Mentor and guide graduate and undergraduate students in research projects, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field with a strong focus on AI/ML and data science. Proven track record of conducting cutting-edge research, with publications in top-tier journals or conferences. Extensive experience in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or C++, and proficiency in using machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
