SDSMT-Advanced Materials Processing Physical Location of Position (City): Rapid City Posting Text Position Summary The Arbegast Materials Processing and Joining (AMP) Laboratory at South Dakota Mines invites applications for a Research Scientist I position. This is a part-time (50% effort), benefited position. The AMP Laboratory has a history of conducting both basic and applied research in the area of advanced materials processing and joining. AMP is home to a host of advanced processing equipment including friction stir welding, cold spray technology, and laser powder directed energy deposition. The successful candidate will be responsible for: designing and executing experimental research advising student researchers disseminating research findings through peer-reviewed publications and scientific conference presentations
Qualifications:
BS or MS in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering or closely related field is required. The applicant should have expertise in advanced manufacturing including metal additive manufacturing, cold spray processing, and/or friction stir welding/processing. In addition, the applicant should have expertise in computer science with a degree in computer science or related field preferred.
