$6,123.04 - $8,572.25/Monthly The Associate Director, Proposal Development and Review, leads the institutional proposal review and submission. The position supervises the Research Administrator ladder, allocates the proposal portfolio by complexity rather than by availability, and holds delegated institutional approval authority for submission within the threshold set by the Authorized Organizational Representative. The Associate Director is accountable for submission timeliness, for the quality and consistency of institutional review, and for the working relationship between this office and college and department research administrators who prepare proposals. Exercises delegated authority to approve proposals for institutional submission within the threshold established in writing by the Authorized Organizational Representative. Reviews complex, multi-component, and consortium proposals and assesses institutional eligibility, sponsor requirements, and institutional commitments. Supervises the Research Administrator ladder, including performance management, coaching, and level determination recommendations. Maintains documented backup coverage and continuity plans to ensure timely submission regardless of individual availability. Establishes and monitors proposal turnaround standards and reports service performance. Identifies recurring causes of submission delays and partners with colleges and system staff to address root causes. Maintains the deadline management approach for high-volume sponsor submission cycles. Develops and delivers training for the college and department research administrators on proposal preparation, budget development, and sponsor requirements. Contributes to institutional policies and procedures for proposal submission and review. Identifies opportunities to automate routine review activities while ensuring professional judgment is focused on complex, high-risk, and institutionally significant matters. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Research Administration Science, Health Administration, or a related field. (Master's Degree preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT

EXPERIENCE
Seven (7) years of related responsible, sponsored research administration experience; OR Master's Degree and five (5) years of related responsible, sponsored research administration experience; OR a combination of related education and work experience to equal eleven (11) years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of proposal preparation, budget development, and sponsor requirements across federal and non-federal sponsors. Knowledge of the Uniform Guidance, cost principles, cost sharing, and effort commitment requirements. Knowledge of electronic research administration and sponsor submission systems. Skill in supervising professional staff and in allocating work by complexity. Ability to make and document institutional approval decisions under deadline pressure. Ability to build capability in staff who do not report to this position.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
