ABOUT THE CS DEPARTMENT
UTEP's CS department is part of the College of Engineering, along with six other academic departments. The CS department is deeply committed to student professional development and advancement through faculty mentoring and research engagement at all levels. Leading companies and government agencies heavily recruit our graduates. The College of Engineering offers students interdisciplinary and industry training opportunities, study abroad programs, and other professional development opportunities. The college is consistently ranked among the top schools in the U.S. in awarding bachelor's degrees to Hispanics. The department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, a new B.S. in Artificial Intelligence, and M.S. degrees in Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. The B.S. in CS offers concentrations in Software Engineering, Secure Cyber-Systems, and Data Analytics, with a Secure Cyber-Systems concentration also available at the graduate level. Through CS undergraduate and graduate programs, UTEP is designated as an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, Cyber Operations, and Cybersecurity Research. CS faculty lead impactful research in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Computer Systems, and Theoretical Foundations of CS. Our faculty are nationally recognized for their scholarship and national leadership in professional organizations, and the department consistently ranks among the highest at UTEP in research expenditures. With a vibrant academic community of 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and four teaching faculty, we foster innovation, collaboration, and student success. UTEP's recently established Applied AI Innovation Institute (AAII) offers a dynamic environment for collaborative, interdisciplinary AI research and deployment in complex, culturally rich settings, an asset for faculty seeking to make real-world impact.

Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science (CS) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for non-tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Research Assistant/Associate Professor to begin immediately. This is a collaborative initiative between the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science Departments. A complementary faculty search is being conducted by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. The Departments are primarily interested in candidates who will contribute to the growth of research and academic programs in the emerging area of HW/SW design for AI-driven Resource Constrained Intelligent Systems (AIRCIS), including IoT devices, robotics, and drones. We are interested in candidates who can work on interdisciplinary teams, complement current expertise, and contribute to the Cyber Physical Systems and the Smart Systems interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering through fundamental disciplinary and/or application-specific research. Priority will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work and potential to contribute to AIRCIS. Candidates will be expected to develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. The application materials should clearly demonstrate the potential of the candidate to succeed in meeting these expectations. Two positions are available, one to be affiliated with the Department of Computer Science, and one to be affiliated with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineers. Requirements:
A Ph.D. in computer science, or a related field. Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track record of publications in areas relevant to AI-driven Resource Constrained Intelligent Systems (AIRCIS). Potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program. Excellent communication skills are required. A commensurate record of successful industrial/academic activities, including funded research, and scholarly publications, is required for applicants at the research associate professor level.
