ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Women's Health is currently accepting applications for its NIH-funded K12 faculty training program, "Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRWCH)" at the Assistant Professor level. This position will become available on August 15, 2027. Successful candidates will be expected to devote 75% effort conducting clinical or basic research related to women's health or sex differences, under the guidance of two or more senior BIRWCH mentors. At UTMB, the BIRCWH program has five research focus areas: aging, cancer prevention, health disparities / Hispanic health, infectious disease, and reproductive health. Each focal area is supported by nationally recognized mentors, chosen for their research, mentoring records, and dedication to advancing interdisciplinary women's health research. Successful candidates will also be expected to participate in career development activities, as required by the
UTMB BIRCWH
curriculum (program details available at: https://www.utmb.edu/bircwh). Successful candidates are expected to actively participate in intra- and inter-departmental meetings, engage in high-quality research, apply for external federal and non-federal funding, publish peer-reviewed manuscripts, and present at regional, national, and international scientific meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Have a PhD degree or clinical doctorate. Have completed all postgraduate training including a postdoctoral or clinical fellowship. Have no more than 8 years of research experience after their last doctoral degree at program start.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates will have a good publication record, an interest in women's health or sex differences, and demonstrated skills in seeking or obtaining research support.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience.
