Description :
The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure track, part-time, Research Scientist - Health Promotion with Youth. This position will serve as a program research facilitator for the FUNPALs Playgroup, a health promotion playgroup for families with toddler age children, and the Healthy Toddler Parent Group, a health education class for parents of toddler age children. Both programs are being delivered as part of the Tiny Steps to Health Study, which is a NIH funded 5-year study to determine efficacious behavior change strategies to help parents of toddler age children create a healthy home environment, where toddlers can develop healthy eating and activity behaviors. The person in this position will be trained to deliver both programs with high research grade fidelity. To ensure ongoing maintenance of facilitation skills this individual will attend weekly supervision meetings and annual refresher trainings. College education in a related field and previous health education experience with adults and or families, particularly those from underserved populations, is required. Previous training and experience delivering the FUNPALs Playgroup and Healthy Toddler Parent Group is preferred. Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check. Individuals conducting research in critical infrastructure areas (i.e., communication infrastructure systems, cybersecurity systems, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment systems, and/or water treatment facilities) are subject to regular review to ensure the security and integrity of the research is maintained.
