Job Description
We're hiring two Ph.D. students for Spring 2027 | George Mason University The Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Laboratory (AMML) is recruiting two Ph.D. students to develop next-generation anti-slip outsole materials . What you'll do:
- Gain hands-on experience with a range of manufacturing and materials characterization methods
- Collaborate directly with leading industry partners
- Conduct research with real-world impact on safety and performance
Funding:
Fully funded for 3 years Who we're looking for: ✅ Research experience through a Master's degree (a Master's thesis is preferred) ✅ Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: polymer composite synthesis, additive manufacturing, mechanical and materials characterization, design of experiments (DOE), simulation, and machine learning ✅ A clear understanding of the commitment required to pursue a Ph.D. ✅ A good fit with the lab — specific techniques can be learned; curiosity and persistence are essential ✅ Ability to start in January 2027 To apply: Email your CV to kgide@gmu.edu with the subject line "Spring 2027 PhD- Footwear Project" by October 15 .
