Location Atlanta, GA Job Summary Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and/or research faculty members, staff and students This position typically will advise and counsel: lab users This position will supervise: NA Job Summary The Center for Digital Human Security (CDHS) at the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy seeks a short-term research support for the Center's cybersecurity research, tool development, and external engagement. The position combines hands-on cybersecurity analysis with communications work: the Research Assistant will analyze data from a variety of internal and external sources, build and manage research tools, produce marketing and outreach material, manage the Center's website, design and execute experiments and write experiment reports, and support engagement with public and partner audiences. The role reports to the Co-Director and works closely with faculty researchers and Center staff. Responsibilities Job Duty 1
- Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments. Job Duty 2

- Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests. Job Duty 6
- Perform other duties as assigned Responsibilities Conduct cybersecurity analysis in support of Center research, including analysis of data from internal and external sources such as system logs, network traffic, threat intelligence reporting, and open-source data to identify malicious activity and indicators of compromise.
Collaborate with faculty researchers and security teams to support proactive cyber defense initiatives and improve detection methodologies. Contribute to research focused on enhancing organizational resilience against advanced persistent threats and malicious cyber activity, with particular attention to at-risk populations and civil society organizations. Develop and maintain research tools, scripts, and data pipelines supporting the Center's data collection, analysis, and publication workflows. Design and execute research experiments, and document methodology, results, and limitations in written experiment reports. Draft and design marketing and communications material ¿ one-pagers, research briefs, slide decks, newsletters, and social media content ¿ that translates technical research for non-technical audiences. Support public and partner outreach by preparing briefing material, coordinating meetings and events with academic, government, nonprofit, and industry partners, and maintaining partner records. Manage and update the CDHS website, including publishing research output, event listings, and staff pages, and monitoring the accuracy and performance of site content. Prepare written reports, summaries, and presentations of research findings, and author or co-author policy analysis and research briefs, for internal and external audiences. Perform other duties in support of the Center's research and operations as assigned. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma Required Experience Up to two years of job related experience Required Qualifications Enrollment in, or completion of, a graduate degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Security, Computer and Electrical Engineering, Public Policy, or a related field. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles ¿ network security, malware analysis, threat intelligence, and incident response ¿ and experience analyzing system logs, network traffic, and security event data to identify suspicious behavior. Scripting or programming ability (e.g., Python) to build and maintain research tools and automate data collection, and familiarity with research methods and experimental design. Strong writing and authorship ability, including policy analysis that translates technical findings into recommendations, and communications material written for non-technical audiences. Experience with website content management (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, or a static site generator) and working familiarity with HTML and CSS. Strong analytical skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; demonstrated interest in the human and policy dimensions of cybersecurity preferred. Proposed Salary $30/hr Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS This job requires working knowledge in the use of instrumentation and other lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to assigned lab.
