Job Description

Job Summary Spat-Tech is seeking a motivated individual with a strong work-ethic to join our algae production team. A solid science/laboratory background is required. Algae culturing experience good but not necessary. The ability to take detailed direction and work independently is essential. The individual must be proactive, resourceful and self motivated. Due to the fast-paced work environment and collaborative nature of our team, interpersonal and communication skills are extremely important. Spat-Tech offers competitive salaries and benefits. The salary for this position will be commensurate with education and experience. During the production season, operations are seven-days a week. Therefore, weekend and holiday work will be required. Responsibilities and Duties Responsible for monitoring and maintaining algae cultures throughout scale-up process and feedstock generation for oyster larvae and broodstock. Provide detailed recording and data entry of monitoring parameters and production data. Successfully follow documented protocols for algae maintenance and sanitation. Fully co-operate with the algae department lead to develop innovative techniques, run trials, and solve problems. Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in laboratory and production areas. Report to the Algae Department Accept other tasks as requested. Qualifications and Skills Do-whatever-it-takes work-ethic required. B.S. in Biology, Marine Biology, Botany, Chemistry, or comparable discipline. Experienced with cell culturing and sterile technique. Algae culturing experience a plus but not necessary. Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments including multiparameter sensors and compound microscopes. Proficient use of personal computers and applications including Microsoft Office. Benefits Employer-sponsored medical, dental, and vision coverage offered.
