Business Unit North Dakota State University Location Fargo Posted 10/02/2026 Full/Part Time Full-Time Department AES Plant Science Close Date 10/15/2026 Add to My Favorite Jobs Email this Job Position Information The Food Technology Specialist will work closely with the faculty supervisor and will be responsible for conducting basic and applied research aimed at increasing the value and economic potential of crops, including but not limited to pulses, corn, and oilseed crops. Individual will p repare research reports and manuscripts based on research findings to submit for publication in scientific journals and national and international meetings. The position will also involve developing some analytical laboratory protocols as needed. Also prepare and present laboratory equipment and procedure demonstrations to courses, seminars and other visitors. Provide technical assistance to graduate students, staff, faculty, and outside inquiries in the areas of plant ingredient technology and evaluation procedures. Teach lab safety to new staff, students, postdocs and visiting scholars. Will be required to maintain the laboratory equipment and material inventory, update SOPs, and assist in training others in the project.

$60,000 -$66,000
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned M.S. degree in cereal science, food science, biochemistry, microbiology, food safety, plant science or related discipline. Ability to use MS Word, spreadsheet, electronic mail and other MS software. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with students, other staff, department faculty and administrators. Good organizing skills such as track the use, storage and location of lab equipment, supplies and materials. Experience developing and following standard operating procedures (SOPs). Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience maintaining equipment used to characterize the physicocher systems, such as rheometer, DSC, particle size analyzers, fiber analyzer ande LECO instruments. Demonstrated strong analytical chemistry skills, including characterizing the properties of plant proteins, gelling systems, and bakery products. Experience supervising workers. Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary & multicultural research environment. Strong record of scholarly publications and excellent presentation skills.
