Posting Summary The EcoClimate lab at Rutgers University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to join our lab beginning Fall 2026, funded for two years. EcoClimate is a new research group led by Dr. David Klinges in the Department of Ecology, Evolution & Natural Resources. Our work combines computational modeling, field studies, and laboratory experiments to understand how terrestrial species and ecosystems respond to extreme events. Themes of research projects may include: Analyzing global rates of climate change and extreme events as experienced by life on earth Use-inspired modeling of climate connectivity, wildlife corridors, and species on the move, especially for socially and economically important species Iterative near-term forecasting of terrestrial and/or aquatic ecosystems with an emphasis on microclimate and ecophysiology Leveraging structured decision-making to assist conservation planning given uncertain futures Position Status Full Time Posting Number 26FA0838 Posting Open Date 10/02/2026 Posting Close Date 11/02/2026 Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience A Ph.D. in ecology, environmental science, meteorology, earth science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field is required for this position. Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications Experience developing software with Python, R, and/or Julia Experience with machine learning and AI algorithms and tooling (e.g. PyTorch) Experience with remote sensing and open-source GIS tools (e.g. Google Earth Engine) Expertise related to climate change, meteorology, terrestrial ecology, physiology, or conservation decision-making Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment Overview The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the undergraduate schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agricultural business and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
