Department SDSU-Dairy & Food Science Physical Location of Position (City) Brookings Posting Text South Dakota State University (SDSU) Dairy and Food Science department is offering an exciting career opportunity as a Manager for the Davis Dairy Plant. This position will manage all operations of the dairy plant, supervise dairy plant staff, purchase supplies and ingredients, and coordinate maintenance and repair of equipment and the facility. This position is located in Brookings . This position is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position. The Dairy Food and Science Department has 9 faculty members, approximately 7 staff members, and 25 graduate research assistants. The faculty and staff within the department bring a wealth of experience, recognized expertise, and a strong dedication to teaching, research, and service. The Davis Dairy Plant was expanded and renovated in 2011 in a $9.3 million project. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
: This position is responsible for managing the Davis Dairy Plant (DDP) in a manner which ensures its sustainability as a resource for teaching, research, and hands-on-experience. This includes ensuring the financial viability of the plant through the production of marketable products.

QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Food Science, or related field by start date. More than 3 up to 5 years of related experience, particularly working in a dairy or food processing plant. Hands-on experience working in a dairy processing facility, particularly in the formulation of ice cream, cheese making, and operations and maintenance of common dairy processing equipment. Must be qualified to obtain a milk pasteurizer's license within 90 days of hire. At least one year of prior experience supervising employees or being a team lead. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Food Science, or related field by start date.
