Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Water Operator and become a vital part of ensuring safe, reliable water. In this energetic role, you will operate, monitor, and maintain the water distribution system and associated equipment. Your hands-on expertise will help us meet environmental regulations, optimize system performance, and deliver clean water to communities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical skills, technical knowledge, and passion for environmental stewardship in a fast-paced utility environment.
Responsibilities:
Repairing water leaks, installing water meters and water lines Recording daily water usage, pump hours, and chlorine levels Ground works and building maintenance. Tank and pump station maintenance Performing work orders generated from office Working well with the general public and other employees Completing locate tickets generated from Alabama 811 that requires employees to physically mark the underground location of water lines and facilities Collecting water samples that are required to stay in compliance with ADEM which is our regulatory state agency Understanding and learning how to operate and analyze the Strategic Control and Data Analysis System (SCADA) This position requires a significant amount of time outdoors and a substantial amount of time on the side of the roads and Right of Ways. This position requires for the employee to rotate weekends being "on call" for emergency purposes and may also need to be readily available when not having "on call" status. Preferred candidates for this position will possess: Background experience in the waterworks industry preferably distribution water system Experience with heavy construction equipment including excavators and backhoes Grade 1 Water Certification Requirements for this position: 18 years or older- High School diploma or GED equivalency diploma Clean driving and criminal record Once hired, an employee will be required to undergo background checks and complete a drug and alcohol screening test. Pay:
$15.00 - $28.00 per hour
