The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is seeking to hire a Full-time hybrid Water Resources Specialist for our Water Resources Department. This is a professional position of service to the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida ("Tribe") requiring a specialized scientific knowledge base in natural resource management, conservation, and restoration, particularly pertaining to water resources. The incumbent is responsible for the development and management of the Tribe's water quality program in northwest Florida. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: sampling, data analysis, installing and maintaining monitoring equipment, writing and administering grants (including grant compliance reporting), participating in multi-agency meetings, and community outreach events. The incumbent reviews, prepares, and submits intergovernmental science-based communications, and reports on federal or state projects that may impact Tribal natural resources or cultural uses. The incumbent will execute and submit technical reviews relating to the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Environmental Policy Act, and NPDES in support of Tribal, state, and federal laws. The incumbent must be dedicated to serving the needs, interests, and people of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, and must be diligent to protect and assert Tribal sovereignty, The incumbent may be assigned other duties, as deemed necessary and required. Remote work schedule will be up to two days per work week.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

: A Master's of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Hydrology, Ecology, or a closely related field, is required. Must include demonstrated professional experience.

EXPERIENCE

The incumbent must have demonstrated experience in data analysis and results interpretation of complex quantitative and/or qualitative data sets. Must have demonstrated experience in results summary and reporting within various formats and for varied audiences. Must possess effective technical writing skills, excellent interpersonal communication abilities, and must be able to exercise sound judgement, be a critical thinker, and work to support informed decision-making processes. Experience with MS Office, ESRI ArcGIS Pro, GPS platforms, and various statistical and data analysis software packages is preferred. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license upon hire, and must be retained throughout the duration of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must be able to work outdoors in the Florida climate, which includes extreme heat, humidity, UV exposure, heavy rain, and lightning. The incumbent must operate off-road vehicles, boats, chainsaws, and machetes. The incumbent will encounter wildlife, including: large mammals/reptiles, stinging/biting insects, and noxious plants. The incumbent will be working in and around wetlands, open water ponds/lakes, and rivers. The incumbent must be able to swim. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry up to forty (40) pounds, unassisted. Drug Screen & Background check required.
