Job Description

The Jacobs Tempe office is seeking a part-time, senior-level biologist who can demonstrate experience as a qualified airport wildlife biologist, as defined by Federal Aviation Administration advisory circular 150/5200-36B. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting field work and preparing reports for wildlife hazard assessments and wildlife hazard management plans, conducting training workshops for airport staff managing hazardous wildlife, and coordinating with airport staff regarding hazardous wildlife issues. In order to perform the tasks required in this position, the candidate will have a combination of coursework and applied experience in the following key areas:
  • Experience completing wildlife hazard assessments for medium hub or large hub airports
  • Experience preparing or updating wildlife hazard management plans for medium hub or large hub airports
  • Experience conducting annual wildlife hazard management training workshops for airport personnel responsible for managing wildlife
  • Knowledgeable of FAA regulations related to wildlife hazard management
  • Ability to start immediately
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience in field studies and data analysis related to management of hazardous wildlife at airports
  • Excellent writing skills and experience in writing technical biological reports
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and computer literacy
  • Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards
