Johnson Service Group is looking for an Assistant Biologist for our client in San Jose.

Responsibilities:

Conduct ecological investigations, including pre-activity biological surveys and on-site monitoring of native fish, wildlife, plants, and special-status species. Document and report survey findings and apply professional judgment when implementing programmatic permits. Identify potential biological concerns and coordinate with requesters and teams within the Watersheds Division. Collect and document field data and assist with scientific studies and biological assessments. Navigate and interpret maps while working in a variety of outdoor environments and rugged terrain.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Fisheries Science, Environmental Science, or a related life science/environmental field. Experience conducting field biology studies and collecting scientific data. Knowledge of local flora and fauna, including special-status species in Santa Clara County and bird nests. Ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain and varying conditions. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to read, navigate, and interpret maps. Valid driver's license. Pay rate $43.60 contract
