Job Description

Job Responsibility:
The Petting Zoo Coordinator shall be responsible for all aspects of the Petting Zoo Program. This includes ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all petting zoo animals, maintaining a clean barn, pastures, and outbuildings, and providing excellent hospitality for the owners and their guests. The Petting Zoo Coordinator role is based in Georgia however there is an opportunity to travel to other family properties as needed, including: Colorado and New York if interested. Primary Duties and Responsibilities The primary duties and responsibilities of the Petting Zoo Coordinator shall include, but are not limited to: o Feed and water each animal according to their individual care and dietary needs o Monitor animal health and wellness, and report any signs of illness or distress immediately to the Property Manager and/or attending veterinarian o Responsible for grooming, bathing, and exercising animals as needed o Responsible for hoof care, vaccinations and deworming animals as needed in coordination with veterinarian and farrier if necessary o Planning for and helping to acquire new animals as requested and discussed with the owners and Property Manager o Formulate and maintain a daily feeding and care schedule for each animal, so that any other employee may fill-in as needed o Ensure that all animals are trained, handled and socialized with on a daily basis so that they will be safe and friendly for the owners o Clean all animal stalls, coops, and enclosures daily o Keep petting barn and play area in "guest-ready" condition at all times o Maintain walkways, trails, fences, and other facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness o Upkeep and cleanliness of all tack and equipment related to the petting zoo (halters, tack, grooming supplies, feeders, waterers, etc.) o Responsible for restocking all supplies, such as feed, bedding, treats, and any cleaning/maintenance items•ensure that there is plenty on-hand at all times o Maintain high standards of sanitation, including ensuring hand washing facilities are available, functional, and clean o Review and set landscaping/pasture irrigation tasks with the landscaping team o Be available and ready during family visits to interact with visitors and animals•especially to provide information about the animals and to supervise all interactions to ensure the safety of both people and animals o Be ready to assist with and supervise children playing in the loft playroom o Miscellaneous guest services upon request o Monitor emails, produce reports, and coordinate with staff on projects o Assist with special events or activities as required o Establish and maintain inventories of all animals, equipment, toys, etc. related to the petting zoo o Utmost safety considerations in all aspects of job duties•for both humans and animals o Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly manner with owners, guests, and co-workers at all times•an attitude of excellence o Ability to recognize when and when not to be a decision maker o Ability to ensure that confidential matters remain confidential o Remain open to requests from owners and managers and be flexible to the needs of other departments o Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the owners or
Property Manager Requirments:
o Ability to work independently or as part of a team o Excellent communication skills, particularly with children o Physical stamina to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods o Possess and maintain a valid driver's license o Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays•recognizing that the owners visit over certain holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter)
Pay:
