Position summary Support NOAA's Marine Mammal Health and Stranding Response Program (MMHSRP) with technical writing, national database QA/QC, health and specimen data management, archival collections, meetings, Unusual Mortality Events, and emergency/field response. Key responsibilities

• Draft and edit emergency response, stranding, entanglement, Prescott Grant, UME, technical-report, guidance, training, fact-sheet, and web products.
• Perform National Stranding Database QA/QC, user acceptance testing, group-event data management, and related database-support activities.
• Manage UME, emergency-response, specimen, pathology, tissue, and fluid data and support migration to the MMHMAP platform.
• Coordinate archival specimens and databases with the National Museum of Natural History and other facilities; support inventory, processing, and shipment.
• Plan and support national/regional meetings, technical reviews, workshops, and case reviews.
• Assist Federal, State, and Stranding Network partners with health assessments, capture/release activities, strandings, necropsies, oil-spill response, and UMEs as authorized. Required qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in marine biology, wildlife biology, veterinary technology/science, zoology, pathology, epidemiology, data science, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of directly relevant professional experience meeting Scientific Services Level 2.
• Experience with marine-mammal health, stranding response, wildlife disease, biological specimens/collections, or closely related work.
• Demonstrated database QA/QC, data stewardship, technical writing, and multi-stakeholder coordination skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel on a limited basis and support time-sensitive response activities when authorized. Preferred qualifications
• MMHSRP, Stranding Network, UME, wildlife necropsy, or marine-mammal tissue-archiving experience.
• MMHMAP, National Stranding Database, specimen-tracking, UAT, or museum/biorepository experience.
• Field safety, incident response, veterinary technician, or wildlife handling credentials. Employment conditions
• Full-time unless otherwise specified; baseline schedule assumes a standard 40-hour workweek. Overtime is not anticipated and requires advance written Government authorization.
• Offsite and hybrid work are subject to COR/Government approval.

Candidate must be available to work onsite at

NOAA/NMFS/OPR, 1315

East-West Highway, Silver Spring, MD, when requested.

• Limited CONUS travel may be required. Candidate must maintain U.S. work authorization, pass required background/security processing, obtain a DOC badge as applicable, and complete mandatory NOAA training.
• Final compensation will depend on directly relevant experience, education, specialized expertise, location, benefits, work schedule, and contract constraints.

Pay:

$95,000.00 - $132,000.00 per year
