Job Description

The Scientist IV, Histology independently leads and maintains a GLP certified histology laboratory, including equipment purchasing and maintenance, and the histological processing of tissues from multiple species in target animal safety and toxicology studies. The role ensures full HSE compliance, produces GLP compliant histology data to support global regulatory dossiers, and oversees specimen archiving and monitoring. It serves as the technical interface between Pathology and clinical and research teams, authors and maintains quality documents and SOPs, addresses quality audits in a validated GLP environment, and independently plans and facilitates global post mortem activities with internal or contracted personnel. Duties & Responsibilities Manages and tracks all aspects of target animal safety anatomical pathology project scheduling and necropsy activities. Performs tissue processing and slide preparation in a GLP compliant environment. Sets up study protocols using the electronic data capture system. Authors quality documents, SOPs, and guidelines for the histology laboratory and pathology functions. Maintains the Colbert histology laboratory in GLP compliance, including equipment and procedures. Documents work activities and study records completely and accurately in alignment with study protocols, regulations, SOPs, policies, safety requirements, and procedures. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with at least 8 years of histology experience, or a master's degree with at least 6 years of histology experience. National histology certification HT (ASCP). Experience in a CRO or other histology laboratory setting. Ability to independently facilitate necropsies, tissue trimming and processing, quality control, electronic data capture, and histology phase reporting. Strong knowledge of electronic pathology data systems. Strong knowledge of histology laboratory maintenance. Thorough understanding of GLP and other regulatory requirements related to pathology in drug development. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to travel >20% (may include overnight).
Eligibility Requirements:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction. Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required). Must be 18 years of age or older.
