Seasonal Part-Time Laboratory Technician

A private, worldwide analytical laboratory and consulting firm is seeking a hard-working, entry-level, seasonal (summer) laboratory technician. We specialize in diagnostic testing of oil, gas and other insulating materials used in transformers, power circuit breakers, and load tap-changers. The technician supports the processing of samples from the preparation of materials for analyses through the disposal or recycling of sampling materials. The Laboratory Manager will assign daily responsibilities to optimize laboratory performance and achieve maximum client satisfaction. This job is part-time temporary (summer seasonal; 4-month posting; 20 hrs/wk.)

Requirements:

Experience working in a laboratory setting is preferred, but not required. IT capability that includes demonstrable functionality with current operating systems, word processing and spreadsheet software. Experience demonstrating time management and multitasking capabilities. Able to handle a high volume of incoming samples. Attention to detail. Good communication skills and able to work well both with others and independently. Able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Able to lift up to 15 lbs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare incoming samples for analysis. Perform assigned laboratory testing. Process samples and sampling materials for disposal or recycling. Continually strive to improve lab processes and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
