Jul 1, 2026 Job Description Job Summary The Social Studies Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with the Arkansas Department of Education curriculum frameworks. The teacher fosters critical thinking, civic responsibility, and historical understanding while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver lessons aligned with Arkansas Social Studies Standards (e.g., civics, U.S. history, world history, geography, economics) Develop instructional materials that promote inquiry, discussion, and analysis Integrate primary and secondary sources to enhance historical understanding Use technology and multimedia tools to support learning Classroom Management Establish and maintain a structured, respectful classroom environment Implement effective behavior management strategies Promote student engagement and participation Assessment & Evaluation Design and administer formative and summative assessments Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain accurate records of grades and attendance Student Support Identify and support diverse learning needs, including special education and gifted students Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress Encourage civic engagement and critical thinking skills Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and staff Participate in professional development aligned with state requirements Stay current with best practices in social studies education and pedagogy
