Jul 20, 2026 Job Description Job Title Secretary, Assistant Principal (MS/HS) Reports To Campus Principal Pay Grade PP02 Workdays 207 Minimum Salary $16.75 per hour Type of Assignment Non-Exempt Mid-Point Salary $20.10 per hour Contract Status At-Will Funding This position is locally funded. Consideration for directly related experience supported by an official service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date. Position Summary The Assistant Principal's Secretary ensures efficient operation of the school administrative office and provides clerical services for the school's administrative staff. This position serves as a point of contact for students, parents, teachers, and visitors, ensuring efficient communication and smooth daily operations. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency. Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years clerical experience. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in Google Drive and Google programs (Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides). Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills. Ability to meet established deadlines. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records. Knowledge of basic accounting principles. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job. Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Major Responsibilities and Duties Promote positive work environment and staff morale within the Assistant Principals' office and school. Manage/distribute campus textbook. Collect fines/fees - parking and damaged or lost textbooks. Coordinate guest teachers. Receive students sent with a discipline referral; distribute the referral to the appropriate administrator. Post discipline referral information to the student records. Run reports as required by the Assistant Principals, Counselors, Principal, etc. Create lists for supervisor in charge of those detentions. Communicate with the Alternative Campus concerning disciplinary actions taken and schoolwork assignments for students placed at AC. Communicate with teachers to obtain assignments for those students placed at the Alternative Campus. Type correspondence and other communications for the APs. Set up conference with parents, students, and patrons of the district as required. Maintain discipline file system per TEA Guidelines for PEIMS extractions. Schedule 504 meetings and assist 504 Assistant Principal with maintenance of 504 records. Assist Academic Dean with computer and data input. Reception and Phones Receive incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Assist students, teachers, parents and staff as needed. Schedule meetings and appointments and maintain calendar for assistant principal. Other Assist with planning, preparation, and setup of faculty meetings and campus activities. Sort, distribute, or deliver mail and other documents. Administer medication to students, check temperatures, and notify parents of student illness in nurse's absence. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy. Comply with all district routines and regulations. Maintain confidentiality of information. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise student aides assigned to Assistant Principals' office.

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions and prolonged or irregular hours.
