Job Description

Parking & Transportation has an opening for a full-time, year-round Security Guard Supervisor with an anticipated start date in July. The "Parking Supervisor" coordinates department activities, patrols lots and enforces rules and regulations, and supervises one regular Parking employee and numerous student workers. Tasks are diverse, requiring general knowledge of a variety of areas, such as supervision, rule enforcement, and customer service. Full-time, regular position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Normal daily work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position pays $20.69/hour or applicable transfer rate. Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervises staff which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring employees are trained and that they follow policies and procedures; training new personnel and providing ongoing guidance; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and assists with hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Communicates with staff, students, faculty and others regarding parking & transportation issues. Responds to questions and complaints; investigates reported parking violations, lot hazards, and other issues of concern. Provides information, takes action, and/or follows up, as appropriate. Enforces parking rules & regulations: patrols lots for violations, issues warnings or citations to violators, authorizes the removal of vehicles by towing as necessary and appropriate. Supports campus lot closures in partnership with Events & Hospitality, UMaine Police, and others. Takes regular lot counts to inventory total and/or available spaces by type and location. Reviews reports and maintains regular records. Analyzes data to monitor trends and develop new enforcement strategies. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level. About the

Qualifications:
Required:
Typically has the education associated with an associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum two years of supervisory experience Valid Maine driver's license Demonstrated experience performing tasks in an accurate and organized manner in order to apply, monitor, and enforce Parking rules and regulations, and to prepare and maintain related records. A commitment to understanding and applying safe work methods while maintaining a sense of purpose in completing tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, the campus community and external clients and customers in a pleasant and productive manner. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace, with the ability to perform accurate data entry, maintain well-organized datasets, and apply standard formatting to documents and spreadsheets. Experience providing exemplary customer service and commitment to understanding and exceeding customer expectations with a cheerful sense of urgency. Demonstrated ability to remain calm while dealing with stressful situations. Recordkeeping principles.
Preferred:
Coursework in business, criminal justice, or a related field. Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems, handheld devices, cameras, and related software applications. Experience in parking and/or security.
