This role will replace a third-party accounting support company and help us create a scalable, highly accurate, audit-ready accounting operation that supports continued company growth. This is not a basic bookkeeping role. We're looking for someone who can think critically, solve problems confidently, communicate professionally with owners and teammates, and operate with a high level of ownership and financial discipline. You'll work closely with leadership and oversee a Billing Assistant while helping build the long-term accounting systems and operational structure of the department. What You'll Be Responsible For Trust accounting oversight and reconciliations Owner statements and owner disbursements Vendor payments and accounts payable workflows Tenant ledger accuracy and billing issue resolution Move-out accounting and security deposit reconciliations Financial reporting and audit readiness Identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies proactively Building scalable systems and internal controls Supporting and leading the Billing Assistant Communicating professionally with owners, vendors, and internal teams What We're Looking For Strong accounting, bookkeeping, or trust accounting experience Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail Calm and professional under pressure Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to manage multiple priorities without letting details fall through the cracks Experience handling escalated financial conversations professionally Comfortable learning and improving systems/processes Eager to serve teammates and clients well Property management accounting experience is strongly preferred Preferred Experience Property management accounting Trust accounting AppFolio experience Reconciliation-heavy accounting environments Leading or managing accounting workflows/processes Compensation & Benefits $40-$45/hour DOE 100% employer-paid health insurance 100% employer-paid dental insurance 100% employer-paid vision insurance Paid time off Growth opportunities within a fast-growing company Stable, team-oriented work environment Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM In-person preferred in Spokane Valley, WA About Hornberger Property Management Hornberger Property Management is a fast-growing residential property management company focused on operational excellence, strong communication, and long-term client relationships.
