Job Description

Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant Location:
Knoxville, TN and travel to plant within 45 minutes

Full-Time, Salaried About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant to oversee and improve cost and inventory accuracy across multiple manufacturing divisions. This role plays a critical part in supporting financial integrity, operational decision-making, and cost optimization in a complex manufacturing environment. Under the direction of the Global Controller, the Senior Manufacturing Cost Accountant will manage standard costing, inventory controls, and manufacturing reporting while providing analytical support to leadership on cost-saving initiatives and pricing decisions. Key Responsibilities Own and maintain the standard cost system , including cost rolls and updates Manage Bills of Material (BOM) updates and ensure cost accuracy Oversee inventory and production reporting , including physical inventories Review and analyze manufacturing variances, scrap, and cycle counts Prepare and deliver weekly, monthly, and annual management reports Provide analytical support for cost-reduction initiatives and commercial pricing Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning related to material costs, labor, overhead, freight, and plant expenses Establish and maintain manufacturing overhead standards Perform general accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and special analyses Ensure accuracy of the fixed asset accounting system Collaborate cross-functionally to support operational and financial goals Perform additional duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience Minimum 5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with MRP systems and standard cost maintenance Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and GAAP Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail with strong organizational skills Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Excel Preferred Skills Experience supporting multiple manufacturing sites or divisions Ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights Strong communication and collaboration skills Supervisory or lead experience within accounting or finance Why Join This Company?
