Job Description

This organization is expanding its Ports & Maritime practice and is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to help lead and deliver complex marine infrastructure projects. With strong market demand for seasoned structural professionals, the firm offers a supportive environment where high‑performing engineers can grow, shape major national programs, and contribute to an established team serving port authorities, terminal operators, shipyards, and maritime clients.

The successful candidate will collaborate across regional and national teams, help build and strengthen client relationships, and play a key role in advancing the firm's technical capabilities in the marine structural sector.

Position OverviewThe Senior Structural Engineer will guide project teams through all phases of design and construction, ensuring that structural solutions meet project goals, budget parameters, and client expectations. This role emphasizes leadership, technical excellence, project delivery, and client development within the ports and maritime market.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead structural design efforts from concept through final design for marine structures, including piers, wharves, bulkheads, fender systems, and related waterfront assets.

Support development of project scopes, schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and construction planning, including management of change orders.

Apply advanced knowledge of structural engineering concepts, codes, standards, and industry‑accepted practices.

Provide innovative solutions for complex or non‑standard structural challenges.

Oversee quality reviews for engineering deliverables and production drawings.

Participate in construction administration, including site coordination, resolving design‑related issues, performing field inspections, and reviewing materials/testing.

Lead field assessments and technical evaluations for both public and private‑sector clients; prepare and present technical reports.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and industry partners; identify business opportunities and support strategic pursuits.

Develop proposals, qualification packages, cost estimates, and project performance reports.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership to junior engineers and project staff.

Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, safety policies, and cross‑discipline communication requirements.

Perform other engineering and leadership duties as assigned.

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET‑accredited program; completion of FE exam required.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Minimum of 7 years of structural engineering experienceExperience with EPC (Engineer‑Procure‑Construct) project delivery preferred.

Adept in Microsoft Office and structural engineering software.

Proven ability to lead teams, delegate work, manage design execution, and resolve technical issues.

Strong communication, analytical reasoning, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Ability to perform detailed quality reviews of plans and specifications.

Willingness to travel as required.
