Job Description

Overview:
Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has multiple opportunities available for a Medical Chart Preparation Tech to support our Southside Region. Responsibilities:
Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures. Assist in preparing and filing all internal and external correspondence and medical reports into patient medical record according to filing system. Coordinate with lab to confirm ordering and processing of needed patient labs; obtain results accordingly. Communicate with care team to coordinate patient appointments with availability of pending results. Other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 3 years office experience preferred, preferably in a medical office setting. Previous experience in a medical records department strongly preferred. Must be willing to travel to other offices as needed.

Work may require sitting for long periods of time, stooping and bending/stretching for files and supplies. Requires occasional lifting of files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
