Senior Project Manager -
Engineered-to-Order Manufacturing Onsite:
Warrior, AL Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead custom motor manufacturing, repair, rebuild, and replacement projects in a job-shop environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in project execution, change control, customer communication, and cross-functional team leadership . The Senior Project Manager will drive projects from order handoff through engineering, sourcing, shop execution, testing, shipment, and closeout while protecting schedule, margin, and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Ownership & Execution Own custom motor manufacturing, repair, rebuild, and replacement projects from order handoff through closeout. Build project plans that balance scope, schedule, quality, shop loading, and customer commitments. Resolve issues across engineering, production, quality, logistics, procurement, and service to hit delivery and margin targets. Procurement & Vendor Management Plan procurement for project materials, outside services, and long-lead components. Manage supplier performance, expediting, and risk on purchased parts and subcontracted work. Partner with procurement and operations on vendor selection, schedule recovery, and cost improvement. Customer Communication & Change Management Serve as the primary customer contact for order review, schedules, technical coordination, and closeout. Manage scope clarification, repair discovery, schedule impacts, and change orders. Build long-term customer relationships through credibility, responsiveness, and reliable execution. Team Leadership & Coordination Lead and mentor Project Managers and Coordinators, setting clear priorities and ownership. Support the team in managing concurrent projects, shop priorities, and cross-functional escalations. Foster a collaborative, accountable environment focused on delivery, margin, and customer satisfaction. Project Controls & Continuous Improvement Strengthen project controls for scheduling, change management, cost visibility, and risk tracking. Report clearly on project status, constraints, recovery actions, gross margin, and customer commitments. Improve project workflows, ERP usage, handoffs, and communication routines.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or related field. PMP preferred; equivalent project leadership in custom manufacturing or industrial repair valued. 7+ years of project management experience in engineered-to-order manufacturing, industrial repair, rotating equipment, or similar high-mix, low-volume operations. Ability to read drawings, bills of material, schedules, and test or inspection documentation. Strong background in procurement coordination, vendor management, and long-lead expediting. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with cross-functional leadership. Proficiency with ERP systems and project management tools.
Preferred Attributes:
Commercial mindset with strong ownership of schedule, cost, margin, and customer commitments. Comfortable in a job shop where priorities shift based on shop load, scope discovery, and customer urgency. Familiarity with lean manufacturing, root cause problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Skilled at balancing strategic oversight with hands-on follow-through Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
