Job Description

Job Summary The Senior tasting room associate will consistently provide above-and-beyond customer service to develop relationships that promote the sale of our wine and increase brand loyalty. Tasting room associates are responsible for creating an elevated experience for all visitors to the winery by reinforcing the quality of the brand, showcasing the wines, vineyard, winery, and tasting room. The Senior tasting room associate will meet or exceed management standards and strengthen daily operations by working cooperatively with the rest of the winery operations team and members of management as well as assist in training, guiding, and leading other tasting room associates and support staff in their duties to enhance the guest experience at Veronét. Duties Educate and lead associates on wines, winemaking, and wine geography. Display and help other recognize sound judgment and problem solving when issues arise . Help resolve and diffuse any issues with guests, leading by example for other team members. Lead hospitality special events, as needed. Share knowledge and maintenance of Clover POS system with other team members. Accurately handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register and ac- counting of daily sales, processing returns, discounts, accurately reconciles cash receipts daily and posts transactions, tracks samples, damages, and other non-sales transactions, etc. Greet all visitors and pour wines for tasting, create a memorable experience for guests by de- scribing wines and winery history, answering visitors' questions about wines, and providing gen- eral tourist information. Effectively up-sell merchandise, event bookings, tours & tastings, and wine club memberships (as applicable). Stock and restock both wine and non-wine items. Ensure clean, well-organized, and functional environment throughout the tasting room & winery building, and performs facility upkeep as necessary (i.e., the tasting bar, outdoor patio, food prep kitchen, surrounding areas, and restrooms). Conduct vineyard tours, as needed. Conduct private tasting experiences, as needed. Handle other tasks and events as assigned by the management team. Communicate clearly, respectfully and in a timely manner with employees and management team. Follow all company policies, state and federal laws.
Qualifications:
WSET Level 2 required (may be obtained within 1 year of hire). High school diploma or GED required. Must be available to work Saturdays & Sundays consistently. One year of high volume winery, hospitality, or food service experience required, at least two pre-ferred. Strong professional customer service skills with a commitment to excellence and exceeding standards. Enthusiasm the VVW Estate and its wine products in particular. Excellent presentation and engagement skills for client tastings & tours. Professional appearance and demeanor. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work in an evolving environment with enthusiasm. Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Proficiency in Clover POS preferred, but not required. ServSafe Certification preferred, but not required.
Physical/Other Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to bend, squat, climb, push, stoop and crouch repeatedly. Have a good driving record, a valid driver's license, auto insurance and the ability to drive to locations around the state.
Working Conditions:
Office, retail, and outdoor environments; work site may be any one of VVW Estate facilities or special events location. Regular working schedule will include weekends and holidays. Ability to walk in steep, inclining vineyard, in diverse types of weather. Long or irregular hours during peak seasons and/or special events, as needed. Standing for long periods of time (4-6 hours per day).
Moderate to heavy physical work:
moving wine cases and retail supplies, setting up for special events, carrying case(s) of wine to customer's vehicle after purchase, etc. Ability to lift at least 40 pounds (case of wine).
Pay:
$12.00 - $14.00 per hour
