We are seeking a Senior Unclaimed Property, State and Local Tax Services , to join our State and Local Tax Services team. They'll focus on managing multiple clients in relation to the completion of various unclaimed property consulting and compliance projects. They'll provide timely, high quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations. Responsibilities are, but not limited to Perform the entire compliance function for filing annual unclaimed property returns on a forward basis for clients utilizing this service, using state-approved software. Assist the Unclaimed Property Practice Leader with a variety of consulting projects including multi-state audits, Voluntary Disclosure Agreements, Diagnostic Reviews and Development of Policies and Procedures. Consistently demonstrate a thorough knowledge of each client's business and related needs with a focus on maintaining & expanding client relationships. Understand capabilities of state and local tax team staff members and monitor/review their work product on an as-needed basis in order to provide feedback on performance during and after the engagement process. Anticipate and address client concerns and escalate issues as they arise. Understand Citrin Cooperman's lines of businesses and share information with clients as appropriate to make introductions to others in the Firm and maximize cross-selling opportunities. Identify and communicate unclaimed property matters, as well as all state & local tax matters, to the State & Local Tax Director. Subscribe to and actively read industry publications, sharing relevant information with clients (as applicable).
Qualifications The ideal candidate must:
Have a bachelor's and/or master's degree in accounting, finance, business or another relevant field. Have a minimum of three (3) years of current or recent experience in unclaimed property consulting. Have experience in Project Management and being able to deploy staff and manage their time when it is necessary. Balance multiple projects and keep engagements moving forward at an acceptable pace. Have a proven record of building profitable, sustainable client relationships. Possess awareness of unclaimed property laws and administrative statutes impacting companies. Possess unwavering integrity and ethics. Have experience interacting with clients, establishing credibility, trust and healthy relationships. Possess demonstrable examples of innovative thinking and problem solving. Be willing and able to travel to client sites across the country, as dictated by business need (possibly up to 25%).
