Job Description

SUMMARY Our local manufacturing client is seeking a Logistics Specialist who will be responsible for picking and packing orders, stocking supplies, and completing paperwork for shipments using computerized shipping software. Heavy lifting and good dexterity are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately picks items to be shipped from inventory using a barcode-scanning device and/or through the ERP system. Provides shipment rate quotes and package dimensions to International Customer Service &/or Distributor based on total shipment DIM weight. Completes necessary documentation to finalize shipments which includes (but is not limited to) the Country of Origin, Schedule B, Consignee and shipment value. Uses AES site to obtain ITN#'s for shipments that exceed $2500 value per Schedule B and includes ITN# in necessary shipping documentation. Abides by all Export Regulations to ensure all shipments are in compliance. Correctly uses computer software to generate commercial invoices, packing lists and shipping labels. Reviews shipment to determine if freight is prepaid or collect and will add necessary freight charges to the shipment as needed. Reviews shipment to ensure customer expectations are met (i.e. insurance, orders/repairs shipped partial or complete, minimum shelf life, etc.). Packs orders per department procedure and customer preference to prevent damage and ensure safe delivery. Coordinates shipments with International Customer Service and desired Carrier(s) based on Customer's requirements. Utilizes computer ERP system to make necessary inventory movement transactions and follows all inventory movement procedures accurately. Stocks primary picking area to ensure shipments are picked based on FIFO methodology. Participates in daily cycle counts and yearly inventory if needed. Stocks warehouse with shipping supplies daily and as necessary. Maintains a clean and clutter free workspace. Maintains a safe work environment. Follows all policies and procedures. Utilizes supplies in a non-wasteful manner. May perform support and backup for other areas in Logistics or Receiving departments. Participates in department team meetings. Performs all essential duties and responsibilities within the company's mission, vision and values. Meet customer expectations for on time shipments by following the department shipping standards. Performs other tasks assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High-school diploma or equivalent No experience required. 1 year experience in a warehouse environment with shipping experience preferred. Ideal candidate will have prior international shipping experience.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of ERP systems. Computer skills for performing receiving and inventory transactions, and experience with or ability to learn, pallet jack, and hand truck. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Requires ability to read, analyze and interpret complex international regulations and procedures. Requires strong organizational skills and ability to maintain priorities set by Logistics Leadership despite frequent interruptions. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong work ethic, excellent attendance record, quality minded performance, and good interpersonal skills desired.
AUTHORITY LEVEL
Supervision:
No direct reports. Works under the guidance of the Logistics Supervisor and/or designee.
Purchasing:
Not authorized to make department expenditures.
TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Attends Export Compliance training courses as needed. See individual training matrix in the MicroAire Training Management System.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to traverse logistics warehouse, manufacturing facility and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Must wear closed-toed shoes. Adheres to protective equipment requirements for each department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in logistics warehouse and stock room areas. Fast paced work environment. This is a long term temporary role. Pay is $18-$21/hour.
