Job Description
The Wakefield shop is one of the company's main fleet operation hubs and supports many of the company's larger operational initiatives. It's a high-visibility location where strong technicians can grow quickly and get noticed by senior leadership. A leading vegetation management and utility support services company is seeking an experienced Shop Technician to join our fleet operations team. You'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of medium-duty trucks and specialized tree and vegetation management equipment—keeping our crews running safely and efficiently in the field. What You'll Do Diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on: Medium-duty trucks (F750s, Freightliner M2s, Internationals) & specialized vegetation equipment (bucket trucks, mechanical tree trimmers, aerial lifts, wood chippers, skid steers, tractors) Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel engines Operate diagnostic software (bonus if you know Cummins Insight, CAT ET) Support storm response operations during major weather events (seasonal, preferred but not required) Maintain accurate repair records and communicate job status to fleet operations
Scope:
95% shop-based , handling repairs and maintenance in-house; Occasional (once a month or so) field visits for emergencies. What You'll Need Valid driver's license Experience with medium-duty chassis Mechanical background in hydraulics, diesel, or heavy equipment repair Ability to provide your own basic hand tools (wrenches, sockets); company provides specialty tools Clean driving record, ability to pass drug screen and background check Flexible mindset - comfortable with shifting priorities and different job sites daily Bonus points for: Tree care or vegetation management industry experience & Diesel diagnostic software knowledgeCompensation & Benefits Pay:
$26-34/hrDOE Overtime:
Time and a half after 40 hours/weekBenefits Package:
