Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Discover a rewarding opportunity for a Sign Language Interpreter seeking a full-time contract position supporting students in an engaging and collaborative educational setting. This pivotal role focuses on facilitating communication and educational access for a 7th grade student who is completely deaf and experiences significant visual impairment. The assignment is based in a self-contained classroom, where you'll work closely with dedicated educators and specialists to empower your student to thrive. This position offers a flexible weekly schedule, with options for either a traditional 5-day workweek or a condensed 2-day schedule (Tuesday and Wednesday), totaling 37.5 hours per week. As an American Sign Language Interpreter, you will foster a positive and supportive environment, delivering essential 1:1 assistance tailored to your student's unique needs. Collaboration and enthusiasm are key, as you will be an active partner in creating an inclusive atmosphere alongside fellow teachers.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience working with students with hearing and vision impairments preferred Outgoing, personable, and approachable demeanor Reliable, flexible, and committed to student success Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staffPrimary Responsibilities:
