Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students by utilizing your skills as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time position begins August 5th and extends through the entire school year, offering the chance to make a direct impact in a vibrant educational setting near Smyrna, GA. You'll serve as a 1:1 interpreter for a high school freshman, fostering communication and accessibility throughout their academic experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) required. Experience in educational or school-based interpreting, preferably at the high school level. Proficiency in American Sign Language and familiarity with Deaf culture. Willingness to obtain the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) interpreter licensure. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and act professionally at all times.Key Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services for a high school freshman, facilitating clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers. Translate spoken language to sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and school events. Support the student's participation in all aspects of the school environment, ensuring they can fully engage in lessons, discussions, and activities. Collaborate closely with educators and staff to adapt to classroom needs and support learning objectives. Uphold professional standards and adhere to all relevant school policies and confidentiality guidelines.
