Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Unlock an exciting opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting K-12 students in an engaging educational environment. This is a contract position suited for a dedicated professional passionate about facilitating communication and fostering inclusivity for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You'll work alongside educators, students, and staff to bridge language barriers and ensure every child has equitable access to learning.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Current certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or a state equivalent) Experience interpreting in educational or school settings highly valued Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various communication modes used in school environments Ability to adapt language level based on student needs, ranging from elementary to high school Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and parents Understanding of and compliance with confidentiality protocols in educational settings Excellent time management and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpreting services during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, meetings, and school events Accurately convey spoken language into sign and vice versa to facilitate meaningful communication Support student engagement and participation within inclusive classrooms and school activities Collaborate with educators and related services professionals to address individual student needs Uphold professional and ethical standards in all interpreting assignments Maintain detailed records and documentation as required Embrace the opportunity to make an impact where your skills bring vital support and empowerment to students.
