This management-level role is ideal for an experienced urban planning, municipal planning, land development, civil engineering, or community development leader who is ready to help guide comprehensive planning, capital improvement planning, and long-range development strategy in a government and public sector environment. The Assistant Director of Community Planning and Development will support senior leadership in directing planning operations, supervising professional staff, evaluating development initiatives, and advancing community-focused planning programs. Key Responsibilities Assist in leading the planning, organization, direction, and oversight of community planning and development department operations. Support the creation, coordination, and implementation of comprehensive urban planning, master planning, strategic planning, and land development initiatives. Coordinate and contribute to the annual Capital Improvement Plan, including review of development priorities, infrastructure needs, and project impacts. Supervise professional planning staff across commercial, industrial, residential, and community development projects. Help implement department policies, objectives, procedures, and programs that support effective planning operations. Oversee the collection, analysis, and presentation of data used to evaluate cost, benefit, feasibility, and long-term impact of current and future development projects.
