$5,910-$9,010 per month
Work Days/Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
•Telework available 1 day per week after 6-month probationary period

The department develops and implements policies, conducts research, and supports long-term planning initiatives to shape the community's future. It also oversees the development process by reviewing plans, issuing permits, and ensuring compliance with established regulations, helping promote orderly, sustainable, and strategic development across the city. Responsibilities What You'll Do:
Performs reviews of public infrastructure, site disturbances, stormwater studies, and building plans to assure design stage conformance with City standards and codes. Receives and reviews public infrastructure plan submittals, verifies required documents and builds invoices. Prepares permits for major infrastructure associated with private development projects for issuance and coordinates with other City Department/Division as required. Processes easements/agreements and other documents associated with public infrastructure for private development projects for acceptance by the City and performs routing for signatures by City officials/staff as required. Assists with the coordination of plan review comments for plats, public grading, paving, curbs, driveways, sidewalks, street lighting, sanitary/storm sewer, and site disturbance. Researches maps, records, plans, and prior processes to support project data management using the Compass KC or similar system. Protects the City's interests concerning right-of-way, easements, and issuance of permits that allow the construction and operation of systems and services fundamental to the makeup of the City. Performs administrative duties to support department functions and customer service as required. Qualifications Requires An accredited Bachelor's degree and 4 years professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs; OR Master's degree in economics, sociology, multi-disciplinary social science or urban affairs, urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, architecture and 2 years professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs; OR high school graduation and 8 years of professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, or neighborhood development programs. The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical. If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
