• Review active lists, committee agendas, and budget materials, providing analysis and vote recommendations Work closely with the Senator, Chief of Staff, and communications team to establish legislative goals and priorities Keep the Senator and staff up to date on key budgetary and legislative matters Draft legislation and sponsor's memos Provide the communications team with technical information related to legislation Perform legislative and regulatory research in response to inquiries from staff or external stakeholders Draft preparatory materials summarizing relevant legislative or regulatory information for use by the Senator at speaking engagements and other public events Respond to constituent inquiries related to legislation Complete constituent casework as necessary Attend meetings and events with or on behalf of the

Senator Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in political science, government, public policy, public administration, economics, legal studies, or related field At least one year of professional experience in government, public policy, advocacy, or a related field Excellent writing skills Ability to research complex issues and convey findings clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively Demonstrated interest in state government and policy

Preferred Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience in government, public policy, advocacy, or a related field Experience working in state government, a trade association, or a government affairs firm Familiarity with New York State legislative and budget process Hours This is a full-time, in-office position During the Legislative Session (January through June), the position requires availability outside of standard business hours. Additional Comments Starting salary is $50,000 to $55,000, commensurate with education and experience.
