Job Description

  • Some of what you'll be doing:
  • This is a full-time summer internship opportunity to further the Port's efforts to advance the availability of low-carbon, clean fuels for the aviation and maritime sectors.
Working with both the Sr. State Government Relations Manager and Government Relations Manager, Maritime Sustainability, the intern will engage in clean fuel policy issues across state, federal, and international jurisdictions. Through research, analysis, and engagement with subject matter experts, the intern will contribute to ongoing strategy development and advocacy efforts. Projects may be tailored to the successful candidate, depending on knowledge, skills, abilities, and interests. +
  • Track policy developments
  • : including state agency rulemaking and other related updates impacting clean fuels. +
  • Engage with internal and external subject matter experts
  • : Accompany Sr. State Government Relations Manager to internal and external meetings related to sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), sustainable maritime fuels (SMF), and clean fuels production. +
  • Research and writing
  • : Independently research and build expertise related to clean fuels regulations and legislation in other states and internationally. Summarize reports and key developments of national and international organizations related to clean fuels. Assist in creating summary documents related to the clean fuels strategy. +
  • Contribute to strategy
  • : Utilize new expertise to help to inform the Port's clean fuels strategy both internally and in external advocacy. +
  • Assist with grant alignment
  • : Support the creation of a database of Port maritime planning and capital project needs for alignment with state and federal grant opportunities.

  • + •A student•You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a recent graduate (
< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as political science, economics, communications, or environmental studies. +

  • + •Work Schedule•Your normal work schedule will be Monday•Friday, 8:00 a.
m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. +

  • This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management's discretion. +
  • Limited Duration
  • This is a limited-duration position and is expected to last no longer than five months. + Safety Requirements

  • Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. +
