The Public Sector Senior Threat Hunter is the first point of escalation within the Security Analytics managed support team. Experts in the field of security event analysis and incident handling, they typically have five to seven years previous SOC experience, as well as technical certifications to reinforce their practical experience. Senior Threat Hunters have a clear understanding of the demands of the dynamic Managed Security environment and use these skills to provide day-to-day direction to SOC Analysts on the team, as well as ensuring smooth shift operations. This role will not be involved in the day-to-day analysis of newly reported threats. Instead, they will provide additional context and consultation to help progress issues for quick resolution, perform analysis and tuning of the security analytics platform configuration and use cases, and create, review, approve, and publish customer-facing reports on threat intelligence, operational metrics, and/or service performance. In this role you will... Provide high level security system analysis including proactive policy evaluation and tuning. Lead the research and resolution of complex and/or escalations issues, including technical troubleshooting calls with Customer/other Verizon teams. Manage complex changes and vendor interaction. Creation of security documentation, including policies, procedures, training documents playbooks and operations manuals. Liaise with Verizon and customer's senior management and other Verizon teams on service improvement initiatives. Though this is not a people leadership role, you may still provide mentorship and team lead functions, including supervision of staff, escalation management, and performance appraisal contributions. Where you'll be working... In this hybrid role, you must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of the locations listed on this posting. You will work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. You'll need to have... Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience. Six or more years of relevant experience. Six or more years of experience as a Security Operations Analyst, investigating and solving complex network threats. The ability to qualify for and maintain a U.S. government clearance at the Public Trust level Six or more years of security engineering experience Six or more years of hands on experience with SIEM software Six or more years of experience scripting, parsing and query development within a SOC / Network Threat team Six or more years building and managing use cases and content, driven from customer requirements Six or more years of industry standard threat hunting techniques and forensic research experience Six or more years of threat landscape experience and indicators of compromise Experience proactively engaging with customers, client executives, and and management teams Even better if you have one or more of the following: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or other technical field
