The Traffic Specialist will evaluate transportation requirements, determine the most efficient and appropriate shipping method, coordinate with carriers and internal stakeholders, and help ensure materials and equipment arrive safely and on schedule. Coordinate LTL, Truckload, Parcel, Hotshot, Dedicated, and Air Freight shipments. Provide transportation support during normal business operations as well as planned outages, forced outages, and emergency storm-restoration events. Track shipments and proactively address transportation delays or service disruptions. Ensure critical materials and equipment are delivered within required operational timelines. Communicate shipment status, delays, changes, and transportation requirements to appropriate stakeholders. Assist internal customers in identifying effective transportation solutions. Emergency & Outage Logistics Support Provide logistics support during planned outages, forced outages, emergency events, and storm restoration . Make timely transportation decisions in situations where operational needs may change rapidly. Coordinate expedited or emergency transportation when necessary. Work effectively in high-pressure situations involving critical utility materials and equipment. Participate in required on-call, after-hours, weekend, holiday, or shift coverage based on operational needs. Maintain effective communication with carriers, suppliers, operations personnel, and internal customers throughout emergency response activities. Carrier & Vendor Management Develop and maintain strong working relationships with transportation carriers, suppliers, vendors, and internal customers. Evaluate carrier capabilities based on shipment type, service requirements, delivery expectations, and pricing. Negotiate freight pricing and transportation agreements to maximize value and freight savings. Assist with carrier selection and transportation-service decisions. Monitor carrier performance and assist in resolving service-related concerns. Communicate clearly with carriers regarding pickup requirements, delivery expectations, equipment needs, and special handling instructions. DOT & Transportation Compliance The Traffic Specialist should possess working knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and requirements, including: U.S. Department of Transportation ( DOT ) regulations. 49 CFR transportation requirements. NMFC classifications . Class 1-9 hazardous materials transportation requirements. Air freight requirements. Truck and Hotshot transportation requirements. Compensation Pay Rate:
$35.00-$38.25 per hour Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's transportation and logistics experience, education, regulatory knowledge, freight expertise, utility-industry knowledge, and overall qualifications.
