Your New Job Job Summary:
Our operating unit provides underground utility services, and we are looking for a Traffic Control Designer to join our team. This position requires organization, timeliness, accuracy and great focus to detail and safety.
Job Responsibilities:
Design traffic control plans using ATSSA guidelines and MUTCD standards. Utilize software such as Invarion or similar CAD-based programs for plan creation. Review project specifications and site conditions to determine appropriate traffic control measures. Coordinate with project managers and field supervisors to ensure plans are practical and executable. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Update and revise plan as needed based on field conditions or client requests. Provide technical support and guidance to crews implementing traffic control setups. Prepare documentation for permits and regulatory approvals. Assist in estimating traffic control costs for bids and proposals. Perform quality checks on implemented traffic control setups for compliance and safety. Stay current on ATSSA standards, MUTCD updates, and industry best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications:
ATSSA Traffic Control Design Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months). Strong knowledge of MUTCD standards and local traffic control regulations. Proficiency in traffic control design software (e.g., Invarion, AutoCAD). Ability to interpret engineering drawings and site plans. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Primarily office-based with extended periods at a computer. Occasional site visits to assess conditions and verify plan implementation. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds (e.g., plan sets, equipment). Standard office environment with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions during site visits. screens.
Work Environment:
Standard office setting with controlled climate. Noise level is generally low to moderate (e.g., printers, phone calls, conversations).
