We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Transportation Operations Analyst to support and optimize domestic and international transportation activities within a fast-paced, time-critical aviation environment. This position is responsible for coordinating the movement of aircraft materials supporting operational requirements, repair shipments to and from repair facilities, and ad hoc logistics needs. The Transportation Operations Analyst will manage shipment booking and tracking, transportation vendors, customs coordination, freight costs, and service performance to help ensure materials move safely, compliantly, on time, and at the appropriate cost. This role serves as an important transportation liaison across Operations, Repairs, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, Sales, and other internal stakeholders, as well as external carriers, freight forwarders, couriers, customs brokers, and specialized logistics providers. The ideal candidate combines hands-on transportation experience with strong analytical, vendor-management, and process-improvement capabilities. This individual should be comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous challenges, identifying practical solutions, and building scalable transportation processes in a dynamic operational environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate domestic and international shipments from booking through final delivery, including time-critical and repair-related movements. Track shipments, manage delays and exceptions, and proactively resolve transportation issues. Coordinate logistics with repair facilities, carriers, freight forwarders, couriers, and customs brokers. Source and manage transportation vendors, negotiate freight rates and service terms, and monitor vendor performance. Support RFQs, RFPs, transportation bids, and contract reviews. Monitor freight spend, transit times, on-time delivery, claims, exceptions, and other transportation KPIs. Analyze shipment and cost data to identify savings, routing improvements, and service opportunities. Develop and improve routing guides, SOPs, booking procedures, vendor scorecards, and transportation processes. Partner with Operations, Repairs, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, Sales, and other teams to address transportation needs and improve workflows. Maintain accurate transportation and customs documentation while ensuring shipments meet applicable international shipping requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
Associate or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transportation, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered. 4-6 years of progressive experience in transportation, freight forwarding, international logistics, shipping operations, or supply chain. Experience managing domestic and international parcel, air freight, ground, courier, and time-critical shipments. Experience negotiating freight rates and managing carriers, freight forwarders, couriers, and/or customs brokers. Working knowledge of import/export procedures, customs documentation, Incoterms, and international shipping requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and vendor-management skills. Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP, TMS, carrier portals, dashboards, BI/reporting, or transportation automation tools preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities, take ownership of transportation issues, and communicate effectively across teams. Experience developing or improving transportation processes, KPIs, SOPs, routing guides, or vendor scorecards strongly preferred. Aviation, aerospace, MRO, aircraft-parts distribution, or similar time-critical logistics experience preferred.
