Comprehensive Planner II/III Carroll County Government is seeking an experienced Comprehensive Planner II/III to join our team and help shape the future of Carroll County through thoughtful land use planning and community development. In this role, you will support and lead planning initiatives, including the development and implementation of comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and other planning documents. You will conduct research and data analysis, utilize GIS and mapping tools, review development plans, and provide guidance on land use, zoning, and development regulations. Depending on the level, responsibilities may include leading planning projects, identifying funding opportunities, providing subject matter expertise, managing project resources, reviewing the work of others, and collaborating with municipalities, legal counsel, staff, and the public. What You'll Do Conduct research, surveys, studies, and GIS analysis related to land use, zoning, annexations, and development. Develop and update comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and other planning documents. Review development plans for consistency with adopted plans and recommendations. Research planning practices, trends, laws, and regulations. Analyze data to identify trends and support planning recommendations. Present information and recommendations to staff, work groups, community partners, and the public. Support and/or lead planning projects and identify funding opportunities. Collaborate with municipalities, departments, legal counsel, and community stakeholders. Ensure projects and assignments are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. Candidates should have knowledge of land use planning, zoning, development regulations, and current planning practices, with the ability to analyze information and communicate recommendations effectively.
