ESP Associates is seeking a Hazard Mitigation/Resilience Planner intern to work with our team in Morrisville, NC. This position works closely with Hazard Mitigation & Resilience Planning team members on full-service hazard mitigation and resilience planning projects for state, local and Tribal clients, as well as other stakeholders.
The Hazard Mitigation / Resilience Planning Intern will have the opportunity to support the following:
Technical Hazard Mitigation/Resilience Planning AssistanceData Collection & Analysis to conduct Risk Assessments, Capability Assessments and Develop Mitigation/Resilience Strategies for Hazard Mitigation Plans and/or Resilience PlansSummarize results/report findings in report formatFacilitate planning meetings, workshops and open public meetingsPreparation of the physical/digital plan documentsProject management: communication and coordination with participating jurisdictions,
State Emergency Management Offices and FEMARequirements:
Enrollment in an undergraduate in Planning or a related fieldGood oral and written communication skillsProficient with Microsoft OfficeExperience with plan/report preparationPositive attitude with an eagerness to learnCandidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the companys driving (MVR) policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of federal and state hazard mitigation and resilience programsGIS experience
