Building/Zoning & Code Enforcement Official Town Of Barrington - 5.0 Barrington, RI Job Details Full-time $99,000 - $107,000 a year 11 hours ago Qualifications Driver's License Full Job Description The Town of Barrington, RI is hiring a full-time, non-union Building/Zoning & Code Enforcement Official. The position reports to the Director of Planning, Building & Resilience and offers an annual salary range of $99,000 to $107,000, commensurate with experience and licensure.
Core Duties:
Enforces the RI State Building Code, RI Zoning Enabling Act, and local property/zoning ordinances including for code enforcement. Conducts development/application layouts, plan reviews, and permit issuances. Manages multidisciplinary field inspections and issues Certificates of Occupancy. Issues legally binding Zoning Certificates, handles dimensional modifications up to 25%, investigates local complaints, and provides municipal court testimony. Provides staff data and technical reports to various Town boards but especially to the Zoning Board of Review and Building Board of Review. Works collaboratively with other planning staff on matters directly and indirectly involving building, zoning, and other regulatory/enforcement matters.
Prerequisites:
Minimum 1 year of registered employment as a certified Building Inspector 2 years in Rhode Island. Valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. RI Certified Building Official (CBO) credential or an equivalent state qualification. Commitment to complete required hours of approved continuing education to maintain state licensure.
