Capacity Planning Specialist - Shift C
Job Description
Job Description An employer in the Houston, TX area is seeking a Capacity Planning Specialist to join their ground transportation operations team. On a daily basis, this person will be responsible for sourcing and securing qualified carrier capacity for assigned shipments, confirming rates and equipment, completing dispatch, and coordinating pickup and delivery appointments. They will actively monitor shipments and carrier performance, track ETAs, communicate potential service issues, and work closely with internal operations teams to ensure loads are executed according to customer requirements. This individual will also maintain accurate shipment documentation, validate final carrier charges and accessorials, and resolve or escalate carrier, capacity, and service issues as they arise. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment that requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, comfortable working under time-sensitive deadlines, and able to take ownership of shipments from initial carrier coverage through final delivery and cost confirmation. Skills and Requirements 2-4+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier procurement, dispatch, truckload brokerage, capacity planning, or transportation operations within a 3PL or freight brokerage environmentExperience sourcing and securing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, confirming equipment and driver availability, and managing loads through pickup and deliveryWorking knowledge of domestic ground transportation, including FTL/LTL freight, equipment types, transit times, carrier requirements, and common accessorial chargesExperience proactively identifying and resolving carrier or shipment issues, including late pickups/deliveries, coverage challenges, tracking issues, and rate discrepanciesStrong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload, prioritize time-sensitive shipments, and take ownership of executionExperience with transportation management, appointment scheduling, or real-time freight visibility platforms such as Descartes Aljex, Open Dock, MacroPoint, or TiveAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
