Hyman Day by the City of Houston, our leadership sets the benchmark for place-based real estate practice. To support several targeted neighborhood revitalization plans—and backed by our new retail storefront location in Houston's historic Third Ward —we are seeking a Public Agency & Community Development Specialist . This specialized role bridges real estate advisory with public sector initiatives, driving project execution tied to broader urban development and municipal programming. Role Overview & Public Sector Engagement This agent role moves beyond standard retail transactions to focus on high-impact, policy-aligned real estate projects. You will serve as a key liaison between our firm, local public agencies, community leaders, and municipal decision-makers. In this position, you will leverage Realinc's institutional relationships and specialized capacity to manage complex initiatives, including:
Public Sector Agency Collaboration:
Interface directly with local government agencies, housing authorities, and public decision-makers on real estate initiatives tied to broader municipal development plans.
Policy & Funding Analysis:
Maintain a constant pulse on local housing policy, zoning updates, grant funding streams, and public incentives affecting community development.
Complex Project Advisory:
Manage large-scale projects with complexities outside traditional buy/sell deals, including community engagement exercises, feasibility studies, and site research.
Targeted Neighborhood Execution:
Support active neighborhood revitalization plans by identifying strategic properties, assembling land parcels, and positioning assets for public-private partnerships. Candidate Profile & Skill Set Real Estate Licensing:
Active Texas Real Estate License with at least 2 years of active industry experience .
Public Interface & Diplomacy:
Strong ability to communicate, negotiate, and present before public officials, municipal boards, agency directorates, and community stakeholders.
Policy & Research Acumen:
Skilled in tracking local housing policy, public funding mechanisms (e.g., CDBG, tax credits, municipal bonds), and reviewing demographic/market studies.
Complex Project Oversight:
Proven ability to manage multi-faceted projects involving public engagement, research, and inter-agency coordination.
Geographic Focus:
In-depth familiarity with Houston Inner Loop neighborhoods (especially Third Ward), municipal zoning, land-use policies, and urban revitalization efforts.
Mindset:
Diplomatic, analytical, highly organized, and deeply committed to community stabilization through place-based practice. Essential Responsibilities Interface with municipal agencies and public decision-makers to align firm offerings with city-led development initiatives. Conduct site research, feasibility exercises, and public engagement sessions supporting targeted neighborhood plans. Monitor city council agendas, planning commission updates, and public funding announcements to capture early project opportunities. Host stakeholder roundtables, educational workshops, and community listening sessions using our Third Ward retail storefront and partner venues. Utilize Total Brokerage CRM and research tools (MLS, Remine, GIS data) to track public land inventories and site assembly leads.

$60,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
