An Academic or Guidance Counselor provides guidance to students in elementary, middle and high schools to help them succeed academically and socially. Works with school teachers and administrators to address problems that affect student performance, and identifies resources for students and families. Helps high school students to plan academic course work and advises on the college search and application process.
The Work-Study Student for the Alabama Christian Academy will assist academy students who experience academic challenges by providing encouragement and study skill strategies in areas of concern. The Work-Study student will help ensure a supportive and encouraging environment where learning takes place at each student's pace. This Work-Study requires availability between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Responsibilities:
Monitor students while they take tests Read tests aloud to students as needed Review study guides to help students prepare for tests Provide encouragement and academic support Engage with students and develop positive relationships Maintain a patient, professional, and positive attitude Follow directions and maintain student confidentiality
