Middle School Counselor Atlas Schools•4.3 Colorado Springs, CO Job Details Full-time $57,750•$67,828 a year 9 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Disability insurance Health insurance Dental insurance Flexible spending account Flextime Employee assistance program Vision insurance Employee discount Life insurance Qualifications Childhood development De-escalation support in education Working with children Conflict management Crisis intervention counseling Full Job Description Who We Are A tuition-free, open enrollment, K-12 charter school in the southeast community of Colorado Springs Preparing and empowering all of our students for success on their post-graduate paths through educational excellence, character development, and community engagement Dedicated to student proficiency through academic rigor and robust family support through the Atlas family scholarship Dedicated to our staff through offering a competitive total rewards package and providing meaningful professional development Who We Serve 92% Socioeconomically Disadvantaged 86% Hispanic, 6% African American, 7% White, and 1% Asian 56% English Language Learners What You'll Do Student Support Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing social-emotional, academic, and behavioral needs Implement and facilitate school-wide programs to support students' emotional well-being, resilience, and social skills Conduct classroom lessons on topics such as emotional regulation, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and career awareness Identify and support students at risk of academic failure or behavioral challenges by developing interventions tailored to their needs Collaboration & Advocacy Work closely with teachers and administrators to develop and implement interventions that promote student success Partner with families to provide guidance, resources, and strategies for supporting student growth at home Advocate for students by ensuring access to services and accommodations necessary for their academic and emotional well-being Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including IEP and 504 Plan meetings, to support students with diverse learning and emotional needs Crisis Intervention & Behavioral Support Provide immediate support and intervention for students in crisis, including conflict mediation and safety planning Implement restorative practices to address discipline issues and promote a positive school climate Assist with de-escalation strategies and work with staff to manage challenging behaviors effectively Collaborate with community mental health agencies and social services to provide additional student support when needed Program Development & School wide Initiatives Develop and implement comprehensive school counseling programs aligned with ASCA (American School Counselor Association) standards Lead initiatives that support social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices Organize parent workshops and staff training sessions to enhance school-wide understanding of student mental health and well-being Utilize data to assess the effectiveness of counseling interventions and adjust programming accordingly
Compensation & Schedule Salaried/Exempt Signing Bonus:
$1,000
Annual Salary Range:

Annual Calendar and Start Date Annual Workdays:
199 Following years will not include new staff orientation and will consist of 196 workdays.
Start Date:
July 13, 2026 Who You Are Required Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field At least one year of experience working with children and families in an educational or clinical setting Ability to pass required background screening pursuant to CRS § 22-30.5-110.7 Possess strong knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, restorative justice, SEL frameworks, and school-based interventions Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families Must be skilled in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and behavioral management Desired Qualifications Bilingual; English & Spanish At least one year of experience working with diverse populations, particularly in low-income, high-need communities Possess familiarity with community resources and ability to coordinate external support services
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the school and other facilities as needed Must be able to fulfill all aspects of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation Must be able to adhere to the policies and procedures of Atlas Schools Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
